Retail Interior Design | MoMA Design Store Tokyo | Omotesando | Tokyo | Gluckman Mayner Architects
This 4500 square-foot retail space is MoMA's first expansion to another country. Working with the 'swirl' concept of the base building (designed by MVRDV), the store's orientation shifts together with the building's non-orthogonal space. Located on the third floor, the store consists of two zones framed by flanking steel walls; one for tall fixtures and the other a field of small fixtures mounted on tracks, allowing flexibility in layout. The cashier is formed through a bold gesture of bent steel framing plasterboard to create a volume housing a storage area and a wedding gifts salon.........more
