Museum Interior Design | Madison Childrens’ Museum | TKWA

The Madison Children’s Museum approached TKWA to adapt this 1930’s Montgomery Ward building into a new home for their community-oriented programming needs. A former state office building, the facility is ideally located on Madison’s popular Capitol Square with outstanding views of both the Capitol dome and Lake Mendota. The adaptive re-use of this prominent building will play an important role in the life of the Square.

Completed in August 2010, the Madison Children’s Museum is intended to be an active learning environment rather than a typical museum of static displays.

Apartment Interior Design | Prewar Park Avenue Loft New York City | New York | Leroy Street Studio

The design for this prewar Park Avenue apartment is based on two goals: to insert a modern space for displaying the clients’ art collection, and to create clear expanses of open spaces for their young family. The partitions in the apartment’s public zones were demolished to create a large, open living space. Taking advantage of the existing exposed beam layout as a framework, plaster art walls were suspended from the roof structure and hover just above the floor. Large millwork pieces animate each room creating a playful and practical counterpoint to the discrete cellular spaces of the original plan. The design is further marked by a juxtaposition of rough and delicate materials..........more

Retail Interior Design | Micheline Printing Boutique | Anagrama

Micheline is a printing boutique founded in the mid 70's. Back then, it was very uncommon to find a printshop that offered both design and high-end printing under the same roof. The boutique came to us because they needed their brand and store to express uniqueness, elegance, and modernity.
The space is inspired in the ambiance of print-shops in the seventies: it has a few contemporary accents such as the lighting, which gives the interiors a vanguardist atmosphere. We made sure to use a neutral color palette to focus all of the attention on the shelves holding the printing catalogues, as well as to emphasize the brand's presence............more

Bar Interior Design | Pitcher & Piano | Manchester | Nottingham | Macaulay Sinclair

We installed a 'hovering' bottom-lit monolith bar and Victoriana backdrop paying homage to the building's railway heritage.

In Nottingham, we ensured the dramatic 300-year old former Unitarian Church became a place to drink and eat by adding food cues. Elsewhere, we lit the building's dramatic stained-glass windows, removed the central drum to create a more cohesive atmosphere and added deep red banquette seating and suspended light fittings throughout........more
